We collect the following data from applicants:

  • Full name

  • Email address

  • Date of birth

  • Zip code

  • School and graduation details

  • Intended trade or career interest

  • Application responses and uploaded files (e.g., recommendation letters, photos)

2. How We Use Your Information

YCF uses your information to:

  • Review and score applications

  • Communicate with applicants

  • Select and notify scholarship recipients

  • Share with industry partners (see Section 3)

3. Required Data Sharing with Industry Partners

By submitting an application, you agree that YCF may share the following information with trusted third-party partners, including tool companies, trade schools, and potential employers:

  • Your name

  • Email address

  • Date of birth

  • Trade interest

These partners may contact you for educational, promotional, or employment-related opportunities. Data sharing is required to apply and is a condition of eligibility for the scholarship.

4. Guardian Consent for Applicants Under 18

If you are under 18 at the time of application, a parent or legal guardian must review and sign the application. By signing, they agree to:

  • This Privacy Policy and the YCF Terms of Use

  • The required sharing of your information with third-party partners as described above

No application will be considered without this guardian consent.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is securely stored using Firebase Firestore and protected by reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. Access is limited to authorized YCF staff and board members involved in scholarship review.

6. Data Retention

We retain application data for up to 24 months following the scholarship cycle for internal reporting, auditing, and potential follow-up.

7. Your Rights

You or your parent/guardian may:

  • Request access to your submitted data

  • Request corrections or deletion

  • Withdraw consent to future contact (note: this does not reverse the application’s prior submission)
